Finds Liaison Officers - Recording Your Finds

All current local Finds Liaison Officers are now on our email list and they are welcome to attend our digs. Whenever they are in attendance they will make themselves known, so feel free to show them your finds for recording and identifying including any pottery and field walking finds.

If a Finds Liaison Officer is unable to attend our digs please speak to Peter regarding recording your finds as we will have deputed a finds recorder with a GPS for positioning your find.

Ros Tyrrell, FLO for Buckinghamshire says that if she isn't at a Bucks dig feel free to contact her after the dig.  Ros is based at the County Museum Resource Centre, Tring Rd, Halton, Bucks. HP22 5PN. or at The Borough Offices, Milton Keynes. Phone: 01296 624519. Email: rtyrrell@buckscc.gov.uk

Our FLO for Oxfordshire and Berkshire is Charlotte Burrill, Charlotte will try to be at our digs but if not she can be contacted at cburrill@westberks.gov.uk  Charlotte is based in the West Berkshire Museum, The Wharf, Newbury or the Museum of Reading, Blagrave Street, Reading or in the Museums Resource Centre, Standlake, Oxon.

Rob Webley  Finds Liaison Officer for Hampshire  will be at as many of our Hampshire digs as possible but if not he can be contacted at RWebley@winchester.gov.uk

If you have recorded your finds at the dig with an FLO, there is no need to record it again with your local FLO at home as all the FLOs use the same database. If you prefer to take your objects home and record them, that's fine but tell the on-site FLO not to include them, otherwise there will be duplicate records!

All our local Finds Liaison Officer's names & contact addresses can be found on the Portable Antiquities Scheme website at  www.finds.org.uk  on the contact page.

You can use the interactive map on the site to Identify your FLO or ring 020 7323 8611.

Feel free to get in touch with them regarding your finds as they are very keen to view, ID and record your finds, we have found them all to be very friendly and helpful .

If you are unable to record your finds with the PAS at a dig please take all recordable finds to your local FLO for recording.  These are generally all coins and artefacts pre 1700 AD, however ‘grotty’!.  FLOs would be grateful if finds are bagged and rally place names and dates written on the bags.  Identification may be helped if you are able to gently clean the surface mud off your find before you take it to your FLO.  Sometimes finds can be recorded at later rallies, but bear in mind that FLOs are likely only to carry maps relevant to their counties.
